What is eConferencing?
eConferencing

Imagine stopping a speaker at a large conference and asking him to repeat what he has said. Well yes, you can do that but at the third, fourth and fifth time it may become a little tiresome!

With an online conference (eConference), you do things slightly differently because you can read the presenters paper before he/she appears, and re read it and read it again (and again)!. This way you can reflect on the presentation and formulate questions, ready for meeting him/her online.

This makes the conference much more productive as you can direct the discussion towards your context and contribute your own knowledge and perspectives.

In an eConference you don't all have to be there at the same time. Conferences are open 24- hours a day during the conference period and can remain open so that more people can get the benefit of reading the papers and the discussion, and even contribute late. During the conference you can leave a question for an 'expert' and return to find the answer - responses may come from other delegates who have relevant experience and knowledge or who have the same interest / issue. This can be the start of new networks which support you at work or in your career.

Watch this space for future conference dates.
